Vegetables are alive too....
Maybe you could try photosynthesis? To Double Tree Mutt: I am aware that plants do not suffer, but you still kill them to eat them. Why couldn't you eat an animal that was killed while under anaesthetic? It's not economical but would it allow you to eat it? |

To Buddy:
Plants do not have a central nervous system and are therefore incapable of suffering. Anyways to answer your question, I also think it is rather obnoxious when vegetarians still eat fish and use the excuse "but they aren't animals!", because they are. They are slaughtered, sent to factory farms, and just plain suffer. A true vegetarian eats absolutely animals, not even fish or seafood. Here is an interesting website on the slaughter of fish: http://www.fishinghurts.com/fishFarms.asp |

And this is why people have a problem with vegetarians...
Do you really have to be so confrontational over what someone eats. If they choose to eat animal by products then that's their choice, they are still vegetarians, you don't own the exclusive rights to vegetarianism you know. Maybe you should write a rule book... |

Um...aren't you technically a vegan since you do not eat any part from an animal? (Correct me if I'm wrong unless you drink/eat dairy, eggs and the like.)
Yeah, but I do agree that people say fish are not animals really annoys me. A supposed "vegetarian" I once knew claimed she was one and ate fish and claimed that fish are not animals. |

Lol at the first answer. Hey Buddy, the animals are not under anesthesia before they are killed. And it is not just that they are being killed it is how they are raised. Look up factory farms and you will see.
Anyhoo, I try not to think about what others are doing. Although it is annoying when people eat fish and call themseves vegetarian, but maybe they don't know that is called pescatarian. |

It would certainly aide communication if people used words correctly.
If i was "anglosaxon white" and called myself "black" people would say i was wrong. why is the word "vegetarian" any different ? It has a meaning, lets use it. vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, poultry nor slaughter by-products. its simple |
