Was thinking of using another type of dark rum and wanted to enhance the flavor of the cake. NOT Bacardi please

Any type of dark sweet rum will do. Capt. Morgan, Sailor Jerry's or Meyers will provide the most flavor.

No, any dark rum is good. Jamaican and Barbados (Bajan) are the best.

i'm pretty sure the rule is, if you like to drink it (and/or like the way it smells) THAT's the best rum to put in your cake!!! Enjoy! (PS. i was recommended Appleton i think but it's very pricey and not available in a small enough bottle, so i used the captain whatever spicy and it was GREAT!) Good luck!
